Caution: Experts At Work

With all that unaffordable real estate in Washington, D.C., development has boomed in the outlying areas, which means that more people are moving out here, where the prices are not completely crazy, just somewhat nuts. And that means a lot of traffic is coming off the Beltway into our neighborhood and onto my street.
What that, in turn, means is that experts are getting involved. They are putting vehicle counters in the pavement and monkeys in the trees. They’re doing everything to monitor traffic except hanging out and watching or driving down the street to see for themselves what is going on.
Nothing will get done. But the explanations will be more complicated than L’Enfant’s street design.
And that is a gratuitous swipe at the experts.
