Baltimore Orioles defeated the L.A. Dodgers 4-0 in the World Series.

The Boston Celtics defeated the L.A. Lakers in the NBA Championships.

Graham Hill won the Indianapolis 500 on his first attempt.

Jack Nicklaus shot a total 288 to win his third Masters tournament at Augusta.

Steve Spurrier, quarterback for the Florida Gators, won the Heisman Trophy.

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 to capture the Stanley Cup.

On the soccer field, England defeated West Germany 4-2 to win the World Cup. —
