Admiralty stop). Walk to the Peak Tram terminus. The trail starts
just past the parking lot.
Description: A hike so gentle it's a stroll. But what a
stroll - through lush, woodsy areas dense with ferns, mosses, and
towering trees.
Hike: Wan Chai Green Trail
Distance: Approximately half a mile
Degree of difficulty: Easy
Estimated time: One hour
How to get started: Take the MTR to Wan Chai and go to
Queen's Road East and the Hopewell Centre. The trail starts by the
old post office.
Description: Like the Central Green Trail, this is an
easygoing walk through splendid scenery. Look for the tangled
trunks of the camphor tree, which in Chinese means "romantic
tree."
Lamma Island
Hike: Central Lamma Trail
Distance: Almost three miles
Degree of difficulty: Easy
Estimated time: Two hours
How to get started: From
the Star Ferry, walk to Pier 5 and
take a ferry to Yung Shue Wan.
Description: The trail starts at Yung Shue Wan, the largest
village on Lamma Island, and wanders out to views of the dramatic
coastline and a swimming beach at Hung Shing Yeh. You can also take
a short detour to the village of Sok Kwu Wan and its popular
seaside restaurants.
Sai Kung Peninsula
Hike: Sharp's Peak
Distance: Over seven miles
Degree of difficulty: Rigorous
Estimated time: Four to five hours
How to get started: From Sai Kung, take Bus 94 (Wong Shek
Pier) to Pak Tam Au. Pick up the trail just across the road.
Description: A challenging excursion that goes up
jagged-edged Sharp's Peak, with jaw-dropping panoramas of mountain
ranges and the bay at Tai Long Wan.
