FRIDAY
THE BEST THING ABOUT L.A.
"The people and the nightlife. The people are always polite and
very friendly. That's probably because the sun is shining all the
time. The nightlife is very different from what's in
Orlando. The
nightlife is different, the people are different, the atmosphere is
different. In Orlando, something happens only once a week. In L.A.,
there's something going on every day and night, even on Sunday. I
don't go out every night, but I like knowing there's something to
do."
LODGING
"I like the
Four Seasons on Doheny Drive. They've got a bar where I
hang out. Everybody hangs out there, and people say it's one of the
best hotels in L.A. because of its rooms and its pool. I never
actually stay at the Four Seasons because I've got a house not far
away. But the Four Seasons is the hotel, right in the middle of
everything. Sometimes I go to the bar, eat club sandwiches, and
enjoy the live jazz. The
Beverly Hills Hotel is nice, too. It's the
famous hotel with the bungalows and the
Polo Lounge, where a lot of
celebrities hang out."
BASKETBALL
"Go to a Lakers game at the
Staples Center. People say a Lakers
game is a total entertainment experience - from the game, to the
celebrities, to the Laker Girls, which is how
Paula Abdul got her
start. The floor seats [$1,160 apiece] are where everybody wants to
sit.
Denzel Washington,
Penny Marshall,
Dyan Cannon, and all the
studio heads and agents sit on the floor. But what's most
incredible about the Staples Center is the way the fans cheer us
on. That place just gets loud."
DINNER
"Spago in Beverly Hills is a favorite because of my main man, chef
Lee Hefter. Man, can he cook. I stop in after the game, late, like
10 or 11. I'll start with pizza or crab cakes. Then, I love his big
filet mignon steak and scampi-style shrimp with garlic and lemon. I
also like his fish, especially the bass. I like to sneak in and
sneak out."
